After 3 years of marriage I FINALLY found the perfect homemade pizza. The secret? The crust. This summer I tried making one in my bread machine and YUM, YUM, YUM!!
Bread Machine Pizza Dough
2/3 c. lukewarm water
1/2 t. honey or sugar
1 t. salt (or a dash more)
1 T. extra virgin olive oil
1 3/4 c. bread flour
6 T. whole wheat flour
1 1/4 t. yeast
Add together in order listed and select dough cycle on breaf machine. When dough cycle is complete, deflate dough and use!
My Favorite Homemade Pizza
Grab your supplies: Olive oil, garlic, mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, and capicola and fresh basil
Get your dough and either toss or push it out onto a pizza stone. Here’s my first time attempting to toss. This picture makes it look kind of impressive, but I definitely need some practice:)
Press out dough evenly. You can make the edges a little fatter if you want to. Brush olive oil on the pressed out dough
Coarsely chop your mushrooms and saute with olive oil and garlic
While that’s cooking, pour your sauce on the crust. If you’re extra domestic, feel free to make your own. I usually use Ragu:)
Spread around with the back of the spoon
Slice your fresh mozzarella (this is another key ingredient!!)
And a little bit of fresh basil if you’ve got it on hand
Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and crust is done (you can put a toothpick through the fat part of the crust on the outside to make sure)
