It’s my first attempt EVER at Cinnamon Rolls!! I made Pioneer Woman’s recipe for the dough. I made my first ever ones as chocolate chip sweet rolls and then the second half of the (HUGE!!!!!) dough as traditional cinnamon rolls. I have never, ever made cinnamon rolls or rolled out cinnamon rolls and I was a little nervous! I figured I have no excuse now that I have the perfect pan, but I was a little nervous I was going to make this huge batch and be wasting it because it wouldn’t taste or look good.
But… they were pretty good!! Making the chocolate chip rolls I did a pretty terrible job rolling them out and cutting them. However, the second time (with traditional) I did a MUCH better job. And I learned more and more each time and think the next time or two I will hopefully have mastered it!! Check out her blog for the recipes. I’ll just give you a quick recap of my tries!
Making the dough
Roll em out and cut em up! My first ones I didn’t roll out thin enough and they were a MESS oops:)
Here’s my 2nd try – looks much better and more like actual rolls!
This is only HALF of the original recipe – - it made SO MANY ROLLS!!!

When I made the icing at first I just threw it all together… had cold cream cheese and butter and the cream cheese NEVER worked in fully. BOO!!! It was chunky. And looked super gross. So I just poured it on the messy looking 9x13s. It was a little too sweet since it hadn’t been fully mixed but whatever.
My next batch I let the cream cheese sit out for a while and it was MUCH better! But it did make WAY too make and completely covered the rolls.

So there was my first roll attempt! Rocking the chocolate chip sweet rolls. They were yummy but SO sweet… and didn’t look too neat since it had the chocolate chips in there. They were pretty good but I can’t say they are now in my regular rotation. But the cream cheese icing (when made right!) was DELICIOUS! My plan? Try traditional cinnamon/ sugar rolls and instead of PW’s Maple frosting rocking that cream cheese icing.
How did it go?? Just you wait ‘enry ‘iggins :)
