Our Christmas Traditions

I love starting traditions for our family. Here are a few Bry and I have begun over the past couple years:)

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus.

It’s a book compiled of about 22 different short stories or excerpts from sermons from the likes of John Piper, Martin Luther, Tim Keller, John Edwards, Martyn Lloyd-Jones and other amazing pastors and authors. It is saturated with gospel truths about who Jesus is and what He has done. They do a great job of talking not only about the birth of our Lord Jesus, but connecting it to his life and death in our place. Bryan and I try to read a chapter together every night… usually it’s every couple nights, but still we get to read together and meditate on the truths of advent and are reminded who God is!

The Nativity Story DVD.

Our first married Christmas we rented this to watch this together on Christmas eve. Last year we wanted to rent again, and looked at Blockbuster Video – none! We looked at Hollywood Video – none! I was bummed that we wouldn’t be able to watch it again but then my hubby bought it! And the tradition was born. I got it out this year to be nice and ready:)

And of course a fully stocked pantry to be ready for all Christmas baking!

That’s just my own personal holiday tradition:)
