About me

Hi! I’m Jackie.Welcome to my blog! I post about worshiping Jesus, loving my husband, our struggle through infertility, adopting our sweet son, motherhood, managing my home, and lots of food. Lots and lots of food. I love to bake and cook and to share my recipes with you!

I’m so excited you’ve stopped by. I hope you feel right at home. Know that if you came by my door step right now, I’d offer you some sort of delicious baked good.

Cookie? Cupcake?

Just take your pick:)

Want to know more? I was born and raised in the midwest. I met Jesus through the ministry of Young Life when I was 16. I started dating my husband at 17 and we got married the summer of 2007. The last 5 years have been full of life – we helped plant a church where my husband is now the lead pastor, we bought a house, I celebrated 5 years at my job as a home visitor and we’ve spent years trying to grow our family. Infertility is a part of the fabric of our lives. We’ve been through numerous failed fertility treatments – lastly embryo adoption. We adopted two sets of 2 embryos and although we got our first positive pregnancy tests both ended in miscarriage all too quickly. We spent the next 6 months processing and healing as we closed the door on trying to get pregnant.

We decided in September of 2012 to begin the process to adopt and our sweet son was born on Easter Sunday!! We are so in love and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for God’s goodness to us!

This blog has chronicled through some of the most difficult years of my life thus far and now captures the end of our journey to have a baby and the sweetness of years of answered prayers. It’s part love-of-baking, part tears-through-infertility, part relaxation-through-crafting-and-decorating and part journalling-thoughts-through-sanctifcation. And now by the grace of God, I get the opportunity to write my son’s story and record his life.

I am so, so grateful that you’ve joined me through this journey.

Please feel free to comment, ask questions and engage. I love, LOVE to read your comments and hear your thoughts!! I usually post about 2-3 times a week. I know it can be hard to keep up… I would love if you subscribed! Go to the right side and put your email in a box underneath “Don’t miss a thing.” Click the button that says “Let’s get started” and you’re good to go!

And PS – if I write it on my blog, it doesn’t count as stalking:) Don’t be nervous – say hi!!!

  2. We’ll miss you at Thanksgiving this year, Jackie, but your Apple Pear Cranberry Pie will be there. Hopefully it will still be good gluten free.

I am thankful for the beautiful and loving daughter that you are and continue to be. Also, I’m thankful that you live close enough for us to see on a regular basis.

Just found your blog, and wanted to say how much I have appreciated reading about another person whose journey with infertility and moving towards adoption is so similar to my own, especially as a fellow Christian. I will be praying that you will bring your child home soon, and that God will be glorified through this journey! Thanks for sharing!

I love your blog Jackie. I wish I had your blog when we were trying. But, as a fellow Christian, I will be praying for you and when you bring him home soon. God bless you and your little family.
